A gradient of yellow; mastery- between the Sun and the Moon

I'm having so much fun with this daily practice. So far, I've had a theme in mind when I wake up, do some channeled writing and pull some cards. I didn't sleep so well last night, I woke up too early (it's just now 6 am) and I don't have enough time to go back to sleep. I'm getting better at listening to my body. I'm not great at it. It still needs work. Sleep patterns have always been a struggle for me. My insomnia is sometimes staying up too late, but mostly waking too early unable to go back to sleep.

Moving and starting over is nothing new to me, I've been doing it since I was a teenager. Sometimes it feels safer than being rooted. I am starting to feel more rooted. I have the luxury now of being intentional, of slowing down. I have the opportunity to mold my schedule around my wants and needs. I need to look for a mycological society, a bird watching group, and I've been really interested in trying out some martial arts. I hate the gym but I love doing something tactile that really tires me out.

Today feels like anything could happen. I'm going to consult the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot Deck. I know I want to pull three cards, I'm going to ask Spirit what each card should signify. I am asking that this be a collective reading and the cards are not just for me and my situation, but relevant to any who may read this post, at any given time.

I am seeing a beautiful yellow gradient, from buttery and light on the inside to saturated and almost neon on the edges. This signifies to me a time of hope or a message of hope is needed. The first card will be the Focus, what demands our attention at this time. The second card will be the Distraction, the feeling or situation that wants to pull us or distract from our focus, and the third card is our Fortune. What might come to be if we can Focus.

I am burning a Japanese incense of carnation as I focus on the cards.

The Focus - Nine of Pentacles

The Nine of Pentacles is a sign of mastery, of completion, of closing out a cycle in life with a job well done. Enjoying the fruits of one’s labor and foresight of preparing for the long-term. In this card a woman stands in her vineyard- grapes a symbol of mastery, fertility, abundance, and rebirth. She doesn’t have to justify what she wants or has to anyone, she simply has a vision and has acheived it. She is generous, grounded, compassionate, and enjoys the magic of intentional living. Above all she is deserving, she receives the rewards of her hard work and fills her own cup so that she may be generous with others. She is compassionate towards herself and can therefore show compassion to others. She has reached a level of maturity in her emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical worlds.

She is asking us to focus on the long game. She wants us to invest our time and resources wisely. To study, learn, grow, and create whatever we want, with passion and integrity. To take stock of our acheivements, to enjoy the fruits of our labor, and be real with ourselves about the life that we want, and build systems to allow us to work towards living it. She was once just seeing herself in her wealth and abundance, in her vineyard, years before somewhere else. She made it happen because she believed in herself and she created it.

The Distraction - The Sun

The Sun is such an interesting card to come up as a distraction, and it had me baffled for a second. It is traditionally known as one of the most positive cards, bringing in joy, happiness, optimism, genuine self expression. The fact that this spread contains a 9, and two Major Arcana cards means this is an important message. The Sun in the position of the distraction signifies there could be a resistance to this maturity. There could be a resistence to the seriousness that comes with long term planning and focusing on the future, perhaps especially in the times we're living in now.

It also tells me your inner child could be activated now, and maybe want to distract themselves. Bring your inner child into the fold, as the parent making fun and exciting long term plans that will feed their need for creativity, joy, and play. First, you have to be the parent and do some rule-setting, some system building, and UGH maybe some school or a class, workshop, or course. Trust me, you always make a new friend and feel so much better after.

Also, just have an awareness of "toxic positivity" or optimism without a plan. Prioritize caretaking equally with play and fun.

The Fortune - The Moon

The Moon is also such an interesting card of fortune, one might think it and the Sun should be switched, but, that’s not how Spirit works. If it was that easy we wouldn’t be having any fun! The Moon is a card of the shadow. The unseen, our fears, our fobias and our resistence. It can also signify something we cannot yet see, that is obscured in some way. This could be the path. You might be thinking about your future, and get discouraged, or go back to your old ways. Letting your inner child take the reins and go back to something that might not be beneficial to either of you, but feels comfy because it’s familiar.

The fortune lies in confronting the shadow. In spending some time with that inner self, with the part of you that maybe can’t fully see yourself in the life you want, you want to know each step, and if you even sense a roadblock, ABORT! This is the fortune, the maturity that is to be acheived. The real fortune is doing the work, doing the scary thing.

The Moon is our subconcious mind as well as our intuition, the wisdom and intellegence informing the way we process and recieve information. I also believe the eclipse portal of march was extremely significant and has been the catalyst to something life changing. A change in priorities, a snap into a NEW reality in an instant. Know that this is all for something. Hold yourself. Do the work.

In Conclusion

The yellow theme is so obvious to me now. We are being asked to be optimistic. To hold our heads high, to honor our true desires, and to face our shadow to work towards accepting and recieving that which we desire. By starting day by day, creating system and routines that support our long term goals. By being intentional about how we spend our time, attention, and exert our physical energy. To replenish ourselves, fill our cup first, honor ourselves, BY loving, accepting, and listening to the inner child and versions within us who are still connected to the past.
